It is amazing to see all the trees changing all the beautiful colors! It is hard to believe that not long ago we finished up at the county fair- and we must all admit that the weather during fair was pretty nice to us. (Well except for the tornado scare while we were getting the barn decorated prior to the fair kick off!)
Hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves and had a good time during the fair this year- and maybe even made some new friends! Although I wasn't too sure about this scavenger hunt we did on fun day- it was fun and that was only because I didn't have to scoop up the cow poo into a BLUE cup! We ended up rocking it out for Doggone Kids and came in 1st place! Way to go Doggone Kids!
As we look on and forward to next year, there are so many exciting things going on. If you missed the last club meeting, we held it out at the Prairie and not TSC as the webpage previously mentioned. At the meeting we discussed community service projects and fundraisers. We also had scoresheets to hand out from the county fair shows. Discussion also involved new things we would like to do next year- fun things we would like to do and some new experiences. As you can tell, I am not willing to share all those fun things in this blog! You need to come to the meetings!! At the end, some goodies were shared with everyone courtsey of Hayley H. and the meeting was adjorned.
We are accepting new members in the next couple of months- so if you aren't already a member, send us an email and we will give you a call!! Happy Haunting next week and see you all at the next meeting, Wednesday, November 11th @ 7:00pm.
Wow! Can you believe it is July already!!! I can't! And to think that the fair will be here in about a month! This year has been a little crazy and we are still trying to work out the bugs as you would call it. We have, however, have had a ton of fun in the process. So much has changed this year and all we can do is continue to get better! One new addition is this website! After finding out that our old page was being discontinued, we had to find an alternate. And because of that, we formed a committee called the "Communications Committeee." I have two members that help me with this big task and I cannot thank them enough! Both Tessa and Haley have joined me in this journey. Tessa, being the secretary of the club, has helped a lot with the newsletter. Haley, has taken it upon herself to really help get this new site up and running. Without either of these elements, it would be hard to reach not only our members on a regular basis, but the outside world- like you! As I type this, I can't help but wonder if you know about 4-H and what a great opportunity to get involved on so many levels! True, our club for years was mainly all about dogs, but we have since then expanded into a multi-purpose club. All that means, is that anyone joining can show just about anything. As a matter of fact, we have a few members that sew, cook and have worked on their collections!!
Now to move onto to bigger things! I spoke of a whirlwind of activity and we are just getting started!! The last couple of months have seen a cookout, drill team tryouts, training, bike rides/pizza party. Although the cookout is something we do on a yearly basis, the bike riding was a new twist to club fun activities! And boy, did we have a BLAST!!!!! The weather didn't really want to cooperate with us, but we did manage to ride about 6 miles! And let me tell you, those 6 miles were full of laughs and screams! We did get to see 2 cranes flying around the canal which was really cool to see too! And of course, the story wouldn't be complete without sharing what made us laugh and what made us scream!!
It was bike riding day and it all started when I thought I would share that there is no fence next to the water. I looked over at Susie and told her I would ride next to her so she didn't end up all wet!! To which she quickly replied, "What's to say I won't take you with me!" Needless to say, I decided to ride ahead! Shortly after, we stopped and I made it a point to say, "We are getting close to a narrow bridge. You will need to ride single file because it takes us over a drop off. Don't worry, there is a fence, so you won't fall to either side." After everyone safely crossed, or so I thought, we stopped again because it was starting to sprinkle. That was when I found out that Susie had hit the little incline for the bridge and ran right into the fence!!! (You should see the bruise on her arm!!) So the next question became...do we want to continue because there is a big downhill and if it starts to pour, I was not riding back up that hill!! So we decided to keep on going. That was when I screamed!! It wasn't because of the hill, but I was gaining speed....so I said to Sarah (a club member) that I was going to pass her and not to move to the left. I rounded the next corner and came up behind Tessa (another member) and told her the same thing...only problem? I failed to mention I was passing her on the left and she started moving to the left!!!! I screamed and tried to put on the brakes! Whew!!! That was so close- we nearly touched tires and it would have taken us both out!! Further along, my husband saw a lightening strike and said we needed to exit the trail. We took some side roads back to a park that had a hill we had to go up. I was near the back of the pack and happened to look up to see that someone was laying in the grass on the incline? I couldn't figure it out...my first thought was, "why are they goofing around and laying in the grass? I am not that slow!" It was only when I got closer that I realized that Susie had done it again!! She wasn't able to get up the hill and was trying to get off of her bike, however, the bike was too tall and both her and the bike fell right over into the grass! I was laughing so hard, I had to stop and walk my own bike back up the path!!
I suppose that does it for our first blog!! Check back though- rumor has it we are going to hit up the aquatic park and then after fair- sometime in the fall, we plan on riding again and then maybe hitting a corn maze before heading back to Ed & Susie's house for a bonfire!! I am sure the next coming months will have many more stories to tell!!!!!!
